R.A.P.T.O.R Infantry Support Mech by Mercenary-Artist R.A.P.T.O.R Infantry Support Mech by Mercenary-Artist
Infantry Support Mech, based off of modern Robotics & UAV Tech

This is a piece I started just as I was moving past gray scale based technique, went back and finished it up for post...

Great illustration! Were you by any chance inspired by DARPA with their BigDog project? This looks very similar. :)

Its chassis and legs were inspired by BigDog. The remaining design elements was based on input from veterans I go to school with.

That's awesome! Nothing better than the voice of a veteran for input.

I can actually see these on the battlefield in 10-20 years, looks great.

10-20 years? Now that's farfetched. I could see a model like this being constructed and deployed now, it's a matter of money.

Yea, the only issue is it would cost a hell of a lot of money haha, I say about 5 years for a working completely weaponized prototype and probably just another 5 years before it's fine tuned enough and cheap enough to mass produce.

Dude. Not bad. Reminds me of QuadMechs or the one Big Dog that the military is making. I like the treading is that supposed to be alternate movement?

Yup, its to allow rough terrain walking(like "big dog") as well as tracked movement for stable/paved surfaces.

Cool. Ahem I have a list of weblinks concerning robota that might interest you in that case. I've been wanting to get back to work on doing stuff myself, but I lack the skills, aside from cs5 meanderings and not had any luck getting the batteltech generators to work on windows 7 sadly

Lots of links but certainly brain food and stuff that shows how fast robota are developing. Enjoy!

Thanks for the links, I live under a rock, on a hill, an hour away from anything so I miss most of these...
